MEET THE TEAM

Investment2020 was the brainchild of Andrew Formica – CEO Janus Henderson Investors and Nichola Pease (Former CEO – JO Hambro), who were driven by the mission to bring more diverse talent into all aspects of investment management.

Today we are delighted to be supported by a team of partners and individuals who are working to make Investment2020 a success.

  • Karis Stander
    Karis Stander
    Managing Director
    Karis Stander joined Investment2020 as Managing Director in 2014, having spent six years managing business development at the Financial & Legal Skills Partnership for their financial services Talent and Careers Service. She also spent five years at the Financial Services Authority in the Learning & Development and the Industry Training teams, and before that managed investment qualifications for the Chartered Institute of Insurance and Investments (CISI). Karis moved to London in 2000 from her native South Africa.

    GINA GRIESEL
    Events and programme manager
    Gina Griesel started work in the City for Williams & Glynns Bank in 1981. In 1984 Gina moved from retail banking into investment banking for County Natwest, Chemical Bank and latterly Yamaichi Bank. After a career break Gina worked for The Financial Skills Partnership as Client Portfolio Manager. In November 2014 Gina joined the team at Investment2020 as Communications and Events Coordinator.

    Trainee Administrator
    Eloise Lyons joined the Investment2020 in-house team as a trainee administrator from sixth form in February 2017 after gaining her ‘A’ levels. She studied English Literature, Psychology and Media Studies where her focus was on Diversity. She also completed the National Citizen Service (NCS) 3-week programme and has worked as a volunteer for animal welfare and mental health charities.

    Charlotte Smith
    Trainee Administrator
    Charlotte Smith joined the Investment2020 in-house team in February 2017 as a trainee administrator from College with BTEC and UAL diplomas in Musical Theatre as well a Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) Legal Secretaries Diploma. She has been involved in fund-raising for the RNLI as well as voluntary work for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund charity, and has worked as a team leader at her local theme park.

    Victoria Nye
    ADVISER
    Victoria Nye was an investment analyst and then head of corporate communications at Fidelity Investments before joining the Investment Association as Director of Communications in 1993. She became Director of Training and Education from 1997 developing new qualifications and establishing programmes for industry professionals. She also co-founded the charity Pfeg, now part of Young Enterprise, to improve young savers’ and future investors’ financial capability.
  • Alistair Hudson
    Alistair Hudson
    University Outreach Consultant
    After graduating from Bristol University, Alistair had a 16-year career with Lloyds Bank, reaching the position of Senior Manager. Since leaving the Bank in 2003, he has been working in education and skills. He spent seven years at the Financial and Legal Skills Partnership and for a year was Head of Employer Engagement at Leeds Beckett University. He has most recently been working as an assessor for the matrix quality standard for Information, Advice and Guidance. He joined Investment2020 in January 2017 to develop relationships with universities.

    Executive Chair
    Nichola Pease has over 30 years’ experience in the investment industry. As an English graduate she won a place at Kleinwort Benson, later moving to Citibank before Smith New Court where she built the European broking business. Nichola joined JO Hambro Capital Management Ltd as Chief Executive in 1998, becoming Deputy Chairman in 2008. She left the firm in 2011 following its takeover. She is an independent non-executive Director of Schroders PLC, and is a member of the Eton Investment Committee.

    Non Executive Chair, Founder and Chief Executive of Janus Henderson Investors
    Gaining a Masters in Economics from his native Australia and an MBA in London, Andrew Formica started a specialist career in equities fund management with AMP Investments in Sydney and from 1998 with Henderson Global Investors. In 2008 he became Chief Executive of Henderson where he oversees the strategic direction of the company and its global workforce of over 1,000 employees. He founded Investment2020 in 2013 after successfully running a 3-year pilot programme at Henderson.

    Chief Executive of The Investment Association
    Chris Cummings joined the Investment Association as Chief Executive in September 2016 following 5 years leading TheCityUK, and another 7 years as head of the Association of Independent Financial Advisers (AIFA). He has advised HM Treasury on regulatory matters, served on advisory groups for business ministers and held senior posts in banking, insurance and consulting. He is a member of the Financial Conduct Authority's Regulatory Decisions Committee and Cass Business School’s Strategy Board and a Visiting Professor. He is a regular press columnist and speaker on issues of international competitiveness and regulation in financial services.

    Learning Consultant for Enfield School improvement service
    Gwyneth Hamand has spent the last 16 years in London schools and higher education institutions, initially as a teacher then specialising in curriculum development and enrichment as well as progression programmes to support students moving into higher education and jobs. She has developed and run training courses across science, technology and art disciplines, and built both regional and national networks across schools, colleges, universities and employers as well as professional organisations.

    Chief of staff for Schroders
    Louise Hosking has 35 years’ experience in management, consulting and coaching. She started her business career as a founding member of Merchants Consultancy Group. In 1995, she established the Scott King Partnership, providing business consultancy services to public and private sector companies. She joined Schroders in 2008 with responsibility for talent management and development, in 2015 moved into Investment as Head of Organisational Development and in 2016 took up the role of Chief of Staff supporting the CEO, Peter Harrison and his management team to grow the company in the context of its culture and strategy. Louise is an accredited business coach and certified by the British Psychological Society in psychometric testing. She has a MSc in Organisational Behaviour from Birkbeck, University of London.

    Head of Marketing EMEA for BNY Mellon Investment Management
    Anne-Marie McConnon is an internationally experienced Marketing Director currently working for BNY Mellon Investment Management. During her career, she has worked for some of the biggest names in finance and asset management including: M&G Investments, Barclays and Scottish Equitable, where she held a number of senior positions.

    Director of Group Corporate Communications for M&G Investments
    Richard Miles is Director of M&G Group Corporate Communications, one of the UK’s leading international asset managers with more than £260 billion of funds under management. His team is responsible for all aspects of communications across Europe, Asia and the Americas, including public relations and public affairs. Prior to joining M&G, Richard was at Fidelity after a 15-year career as a journalist, including seven years writing about finance for The Times.

    People Director at Redington
    Kavish Patel is the People Director at Redington, the independent investment consultant. He moved into management consultancy after 4 years in equity derivatives execution, initially working with London school children to help them understand their career paths then securing senior roles with global HR consultancy Mercuri Urval. He joined a start-up digital management consultancy eventually running contract-based projects. Kavish specialises in organisational change and employee development using his digital and strategic expertise. He holds a BSc in Government and Economics from the London School of Economics.

    CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGER – SCOTLAND
    Ann Robb has 20 years’ experience in business marketing and entrepreneurship in Scotland with a focus on marketing strategy and general business advice and mentoring. She has headed brand and advertising teams at a number of major banks and insurance companies and has successfully set up and run 2 companies of her own, including a marketing recruitment consultancy. She runs training and business mentoring courses and specialises particularly in providing advice for online marketing strategies such as LinkedIn.
