Invesco Perpetual

Based in Henley on Thames, we look after around £107.5bn worth of assets (as at 31 Dec 2017) on behalf of individual clients, pension funds and corporate institutions, making us one of the largest independent investment managers in the UK.

We form part of Invesco Ltd, a leading global investment manager, serving clients in more than 120 countries.

Investment management is what we do. We look after our customers’ money and help them achieve their financial goals. Typically, these goals could be:

  • saving up a deposit for a new house
  • planning for retirement
  • investing for school or university fees

We like to think our employees are best in class. The expectations are high but in return we put a great deal of effort into creating a first-class working environment. Our high performance culture means not settling for average and we reward our people based on merit. We foster a respectful, collegial, and collaborative atmosphere, and diversity of thought is a core strength of our organisation.

‘Diversity of Thought’ is one of three key attributes that sit at the heart of Invesco’s Purpose, defining our investment philosophy, collegial culture and decision-making ethos. Ensuring our teams have a broad range of experiences and backgrounds helps us promote the diversity of thought needed to deliver a superior investment experience for clients and maintain a positive, engaging work environment for our people. Invesco EMEA is also proud to have signed up to the UK Government’s Women in Finance Charter.

Personal development is strongly encouraged and supported at Invesco. And this doesn’t simply mean going on the odd training course. It’s about individuals taking control of their own futures, with guidance from senior management, and working in areas of the business in which they wish to develop and learn more. Development planning is for everyone.

‘Work should be fun’ is a cliché, but we do try our best to help people get to know each other and provide opportunities for socialising outside the formality of the office. There is an active Sports and Social committee; this gives employees the chance to enjoy quiz nights, weekends away, themed nights out and sporting events like golf or horse racing.

Our Henley campus is situated close to Henley railway station and there is a free shuttle bus service offered from Reading railway station. There is a state-of-the-art subsidised gym on site offering a full range of equipment and regular classes available to all staff, Monday to Friday. Invesco offers a full range of employee benefits to all trainees; including private medical insurance, pension and travel loans amongst others.

We are delighted to be a part of the Investment2020 initiative and are pleased to be able to offer placements to a number of trainees.

Successful applicants can look forward to a challenging and rewarding 12 months with one of the UK’s leading asset managers. Trainees will gain an invaluable insight into the world of investment management. They will have the opportunity to play an active role and develop key skills which will stand them in good stead for securing a permanent position, either at Invesco or elsewhere in the industry.

So, if you’re enthusiastic, keen to learn and ready to take your first step towards a career in the investment industry, we’d love to hear from you.

Over the past two decades, we have built a highly sophisticated analytical framework that explores and measures investment skill. In fact the easiest way to think about what we do is that we are the equivalent of sports analytics for the investment management industry.

Inalytics was established 20 years ago by a former Investment Manager Rick Di Mascio and over the years we have built up an extensive client list of Investment Managers and Pension Funds in 8 different countries.

Inalytics offers the opportunity to learn from and be trained by a small team of highly professional colleagues who have a track record for innovation. For example, we were one of the early adopters of the ‘cloud’, open source applications and more recently machine learning in our field.

The successful candidate will be given extensive training, both on site and on external courses as we believe this is the only way that they will be able to develop and eventually contribute themselves to this track record for innovation.

We are looking for a school/college leaver who wants to learn and work within a small team and who is looking to train as a software developer.

The qualities we are looking for are; the ability to think for themselves, an attention to detail, willingness to work as a part of a team. The right candidate can come from a range of educational backgrounds as long as they are able to demonstrate an interest and aptitude for software development.

We believe that there is nothing complicated about business, it’s about having a service that clients want, and a team that is interested in providing it to them.

This might explain why a significant number of Clients and team members have remained with us for a long period of time.
