Why do you enjoy your job?
I found progressing from studying A levels to a full time job was a massive jump, but I really enjoy the company I work for and the people I work with on a daily basis. The transition would not have been easy without them as they are all helpful. Within my team I help with several different tasks from the maintenance of accurate accounting records to administrating new bank account set-ups. I have picked up a lot of things which I enjoy as they also fit in with my studying. Working at M&G has provided a lot of opportunities to continue learning and gain a deeper understanding of the business and the wider finance and asset management industry.
What is the most challenging thing about your job?
I think the most challenging part of my job is studying and working at the same time. After a long day of work it can be difficult to sit down and revise. However now that I have sat some exams it really helps to spend an hour a day away from your desk doing some revision. It took a while for me to find my balance between studying and working as it can be quite stressful.
How did you get into your job?
I studied Economics, Maths, and Biology at college and was planning to go to university to study nursing. I decided nursing really wasn’t for me and wanted to pursue a career in finance where I could learn on the job and become qualified in the future. I applied to a few apprenticeships but M&G was the one I preferred as it offered the most opportunities for a school leaver.
What are your future aspirations?
I am currently completing my certificate level CIMA qualification. I would then like to progress to the professional level.
How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?
Investment20/20 has been very supportive, keeping us up to date with lots of different opportunities for apprentices where we can attend talks and hear different individuals’ career journeys, and meet new people within the industry.
