Janus Henderson Investors
Investment Performance Analyst Trainee
Why do you enjoy your job?
I work within the Institutional Performance Analytics team, which comes under the umbrella of Performance at Janus Henderson. My job involves interaction with all aspects of the business globally. Using financial mathematics and statistical techniques, I calculate and interpret fund and market returns to clients and managers. I enjoy the intensity and accuracy needed in the role, as this suits my personality. Each day provides new challenges.
What is the most challenging thing about your job?
The biggest challenge in Performance is developing an understanding of nearly all aspects of fund management, as requests can come from any area of the business. My colleagues are very helpful in breaking down complex problems and furthering my learning and development within the role.
How did you get into your job?
My route into Finance was perhaps more unconventional than most. Before joining Janus Henderson I finished my Master’s degree in International Business and started work as a chef. The Investment20/20 scheme seemed like a good opportunity to apply the skills I had gained at work and at university.
What are your future aspirations?
I enjoy my role in Performance and would like to stay here until I’ve gained greater industry experience. I hope to use this experience to go into an analytical front office role, within the next 5 years.
How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?
Challenging, enlightening and well worth the hard work.
