Why do you enjoy your job?

I deal with a wide range of professionals from all levels of business, from analysts to directors of firms and I enjoy this exposure my role gives me. The people I work with also make the job enjoyable.

I follow up requests for information such as confirming funds’ NAVs (net asset value) or inception dates and sending historical pricing data. I help to activate funds on platforms such as Morningstar and Bloomberg to enable clients to invest in our range of funds. Having a high attention to detail is a key part of my role which involves a lot of data from different sources.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

The most challenging part of my role is the task of information gathering. This sometimes requires looking at a range of sources such as a fund’s prospectus, annual report, product disclosure statement and investment memorandum etc., and then checking with the content creators to confirm the information in the documents.

How did you get into your job?

At university I studied Business Management & Economics as well as Corporate Finance. Investment20/20 has been invaluable in helping me to establish my career. Previous work experience was not in asset management or the financial services industry and so getting my first job proved challenging initially. However through the Investment20/20 scheme I was able to gain this experience as well as a foothold in the industry.

What are your future aspirations?

At this stage of my time here I’m looking to learn as much about the industry as possible so I am in the best position to ensure a long and successful career within it. I want to continue learning as much as possible about other areas of asset management, specifically investments and sales, before I select a particular career path. I am currently studying for my IMC (Investment Management Certificate) and will possibly begin studying for the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) next year.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

My Investment20/20 experience has been a great one; it has given me the experience in the industry that I lacked previously and I will look to use this experience to progress to bigger and better things.
