Why do you enjoy your job?

I think the main reason I enjoy my job is that I interact with a huge number of departments within Jupiter through my role and get to meet many different kinds of people, both senior and junior. Since I am specifically part of the digital marketing team, my role is primarily to help with email distribution, social media strategy, data/analytics and the website. It has given me a great opportunity to work out what I want to do by exposing me to a lot of other departments and to really get to know the business I work for.

Another significant reason I like my job is that I have been challenged with both familiar and unfamiliar tasks within my role. When I first started, I spent the first few months working as part of the events team, which is something I had no experience in. Now I am a full part of the digital marketing team, which I had experience of in two other companies, and so I have both expanded my professional horizons and built on my prior experiences.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

For me, the most challenging aspect has been adapting to the speed of working in an office and across departments. Until I started here, I had always felt that asking questions made me look bad or somehow that I was unsure of what I was doing, and I felt under pressure to work as quickly as possible. Now, I feel confident enough to ask questions without worrying and take my time on projects, meaning my work has benefitted as a result.

How did you get into your job?

I graduated from Bristol University with a degree in Ancient History, but I moved to Sydney for seven months to take on a digital marketing internship for a medical diagnostics company. I was very unsure about what I wanted to do and graduate jobs were difficult to find, so I took the first opportunity I could to go abroad! When I came back I went straight into an internship at an asset management firm in London, where I realised that I was interested in both marketing and asset management. I was lucky enough to then get my current role at Jupiter, where the Investment20/20 programme has helped me build and confirm my interest.

What are your future aspirations?

As mentioned above, I have become really interested in a career in both marketing and asset management, so for now my future aspirations are to climb the ladder in this industry and see where that takes me!

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

It has been great fun, but more importantly very useful for me in helping me to define what it is I want to do and giving me the opportunity to pursue those interests with tangible experience in an asset management firm.
