Why do you enjoy your job?

I like the fact that within my role I am never short of things to do and every day is different, with new enquiries or challenging problems to solve. The derivatives department is very busy as there are so many different products and I enjoy working with all sorts of different people. I also like working under time pressure with deadlines to meet.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

I think that the most challenging thing is making sure I understand the procedures and technological systems within my role as they can be quite complex.

How did you get into your job?

I have always been very interested in the business and financial sector. At school I took one A Level, Economics, as I was not well at the time and gained an A*. I did not apply to university as I had no idea what I wanted to do. I went to a talk at Schroders where the Investment20/20 scheme was mentioned and I decided to apply. I successfully landed a place on the scheme with a role in the derivatives department where I have now been working for almost eight months. It has been an amazing opportunity which will stand me in great stead for my future career.

What are your future aspirations?

I would like to either pursue a new role within the derivatives department or in a different department in order to broaden my options and insights further.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

The Investment20/20 scheme has been key to my experience of working life in London. I have had to really push myself and I have learnt an incredible amount. I would recommend the scheme to anyone who is interested in this sector. I have really enjoyed meeting senior people and seeing how they pursued their careers.
