Why do you enjoy your job?

As a trainee at Janus Henderson I am fortunate to sit within the AlphaGen Capital team, specialising in alternative solutions. Being part of such a tight knit unit is fantastic and made it easy to fit in from the outset. The sense of togetherness breeds an atmosphere of positivity and success. From a personal perspective, the team is suited to my aims to forge a career in the sales side of the asset management industry and already I have been able to learn from the sales directors and look forward to continuing to do so. All in all, being part of a lively team and immersed in constant activity is what makes me enjoy my job.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

I certainly had to re-adjust when beginning revision for the IMC qualifications. Having spent a year away from university and exams, combining studying and work was initially difficult but soon became part of a routine. With one half of the IMC now achieved, I am looking to complete the qualification as soon as possible.

How did you get into your job?

Following the culmination of my Law degree at Leeds University, I returned south with the aim of establishing a career within a fast paced, dynamic environment, with the chance to develop into a sales role in the long term. When I looked for opportunities within the financial industry, I discovered the Investment20/20 scheme and was able to find out more through a friend that was already on the scheme and enjoying the experience. When realising the pathway the scheme provides and the advantages associated with working at Henderson, I was thrilled to be offered a role.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

A valuable experience and the beginning of a future in asset management.
