I must admit that going straight from school to a work environment, especially in the busy City, was daunting. However, it is the best decision I have ever made. My work teaches me so much about my role now, but also about potential roles that I could fit in the future. It also gives me an insight into an analyst’s daily tasks. M&G is a great company to work for, everyone is friendly and the culture is good, particularly at Christmas! I feel that training and mentoring is always tailored specifically to my needs. It’s a company that recognises success, which I also find really good. It has really exceeded my expectations.
I would say the most challenging part of my job is learning the different programmes for the job. They are very specific to each role, which would prevent you from learning them before you join the company. However, my team is very supportive and they always encourage me to ask questions.
I came straight from school after finishing my A-levels. I prepared well for the recruitment process to ensure that I was well equipped for tests, telephone/video interviews and face to face interviews. You can never be too prepared.
My future aspiration is to become a fund manager whether it might be at my current company or a different company – but most importantly I want to be in a job that I enjoy.
I would say my experience has been very good. The training courses really prepare you for the corporate world. They are delivered by professionals who give the best advice possible relating to the positions that we work in now.
