Why do you enjoy your job?

I am an internal auditor for Janus Henderson Investors. The role of an internal auditor is to monitor whether the risks and controls set by each business department/function are being adequately identified and implemented. I am suited to my job as I enjoy meeting new people – throughout the audit process meetings are held with the respective business department. I enjoy problem solving – key to the audit process is making recommendations for management based on audit findings. Rotating around the business makes my job varied (it is unlikely that you will audit the same area more than once).

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

The most challenging part of my job is familiarising myself with the different processes and procedures of each business area. At the beginning of an audit it is important to quickly get to grips with the fundamentals of the business area being audited. Although this is challenging, it is one of the most enjoyable parts of my job as I learn something new every day.

How did you get into your job?

I graduated from Sheffield University with a BSc in Biology. Investment20/20 has given me skills in a completely new industry.

What are your future aspirations?

Although I enjoy internal audit I am keeping an open mind and trying to gain as much knowledge as possible about the industry.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

Overall, the Investment 20/20 experience has been supportive, informative and enjoyable.
