As anyone in human resources will tell you, every day in the office is different, and this is why I was interested in gaining the experience here in the first place. I enjoy working in HR especially in this industry as you get to know so many different faces and aspects of the business. I am an outgoing and friendly person, so I benefit from this a lot.
The need to prioritise all the tasks and queries that are thrown my way can be quite a challenge: employees come to HR with many questions and enquiries and the key is to work out how to tackle each problem and do what is best for the individual, whether it be urgent or general.
I went straight from college into the working world as I knew that university and further education wasn’t the right path for me. The scheme was recommended to me by two family members, and the thought of being able to learn and earn at the same time was very appealing. I applied for a few positions in HR on the programme, as during my studies I became interested in a career in this area.
I would really like to continue my career in human resources and eventually progress to a higher position. I have enjoyed working in the financial sector, however it might be beneficial to also gain experience in other industries, e.g. Law, Education, Healthcare. I would also like to gain qualifications to progress my career in HR further.
This programme has really increased my confidence and helped me to gain an insight into the asset and investment management industry. I have worked with professionals at all levels, which has provided me with transferable skills that I can also use later in my career.
