Why do you enjoy your job?

Investment operations at Janus Henderson primarily focuses on the supervision of tasks carried out by our third party administrators, who run various ‘behind the scenes’ processes including when a trade is placed on a fund or when shareholders make elections. My role requires me to oversee and make judgements on the risk exposure relating to such processes and escalate this if necessary.

What I enjoy most is the opportunity to interact with different people within my team, across departments and with other firms that we carry out business with. I also enjoy investigating problems when they arise and the contentment when the issue is resolved.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

Initially, the most challenging aspect of my role was gaining familiarity with the various terms and acronyms used in the financial world as it made it difficult to understand the reasoning behind why I was carrying out certain tasks. However, this improved significantly when I asked questions, used online resources and began studying for the Investment Management Certificate (IMC).

How did you get into your job?

I studied Economics at the University of Birmingham before applying for this role at Janus Henderson.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

Investment20/20 has given me the ability to not only gain vital experience in the financial world, but also build on my understanding of the industry, how to navigate it, and the opportunities I might explore throughout my career.
