Why do you enjoy your job?
Every day is different. In the communications team, we are well connected and get to hear from all areas of the firm, from the most senior to junior employees. It’s great for getting to know everyone and gaining real insight into what every department does. I also really enjoy the fact that my role is so broad, I work on lots of different projects, I get to be creative, analytical, attend events, and work closely with many people across the business.
What is the most challenging thing about your job?
My job can be high pressure. On a busy day, my team can have a really heavy workload. Tasks can come up which need to be completed urgently. It is key I use my initiative, know how to prioritise tasks and stay calm when my team are depending on me.
How did you get into your job?
Once I completed my A levels I decided that I wanted to spend some time travelling, so I got a job to save, gain some experience and see some of the world. On my return, in September I went on to study Architecture at the University of Westminster. I decided to pause that to pursue a career in the investment industry. I’ve always had an interest in this industry, I like the fast-paced nature of it.
What are your future aspirations?
I am keen to remain in the investment industry. The culture within my firm is great and the evolving nature of the industry is exciting. I’m hoping to explore more of the options that Schroders as a firm can offer me, and I also hope to learn more about the different roles available.
I aim to complete the Investment Management Certificate which is a foundation level course for people who wish to work in investment. I then hope to complete other professional qualifications such as the CFA.
