Why do you enjoy your job?
As a member of the external reporting team it is my job to assist with the production of Janus Henderson Group’s Year End and Half Year accounts and the same for the individual entities of the Group. I am also responsible for the monthly posting and reconciliation of various Balance Sheet items including: ’investments accounted for’ under the equity method, ‘intangible assets’, ‘provisions’ and ‘corporate debt’.
What is the most challenging thing about your job?
The most challenging time period for the external reporting team is around year end. The production of the accounts requires exceptional attention to detail in a short time frame. Despite the added pressure around this time, I enjoy working to important deadlines.
How did you get into your job?
Whilst at Sixth Form I decided that I did not want to go to university and that I wanted to start my career as soon as possible. For someone finishing their A-levels there are many different routes that can be taken. However, I am glad I chose Janus Henderson via Investment20/20 as they have both opened my mind to the industry. Starting as a trainee gave me excellent exposure to the field of work. The friendly atmosphere at Janus Henderson made me feel at home, and I am happy to have signed a permanent contract here.
What are your future aspirations?
After completing the Investment Management Certificate in my first year, I plan to go on to study towards the ACCA qualification and progress into roles with greater responsibility.
How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?
I cannot stress enough how much I have enjoyed this experience so far, it has been everything I thought my first job would be and more.
