Why do you enjoy your job?
I enjoy the fact that no two days are the same, while also appreciating that there are daily tasks that need to be carried out. The scope of the role has meant great exposure across the business from dealing with the investment teams and traders to the client group and marketing/legal teams. It has given me a really good understanding of the processes involved in an asset management business and I’ve formed some great relationships with people around the business as a result.
What is the most challenging thing about your job?
It can get difficult at times when a large volume of work comes in all at once – being part of quite a streamlined team it can mean high pressure situations which I’ve learnt a lot from.
How did you get into your job?
I graduated from Cass Business School with a BSc Investment & Financial Risk Management (Hons), so knew I wanted to get into the financial sector. Investment20/20 made that attainable by offering opportunities that wouldn’t usually be available to recent graduates or school leavers. It provides a good platform to network and help build a career in an industry that isn’t highly advertised.
What are your future aspirations?
Having spent around 8 months in the industry and gained some invaluable experience, I’d like to make the move into a front office role as an equity analyst. The programme has meant that I am certain of my interest in the industry and it has provided me with a platform from which I can move on from having learnt a lot.
How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?
The experience is definitely one that given the choice I would undertake again – it’s been an immense learning curve and Investment20/20 has provided a great support network; their corporate type events to get us prepared for the real world have also been an amazing help.
