As a Junior request for proposal (RFP) Executive, I am responsible for responding to requests for proposals sent in from potential clients. In addition, I update and maintain the consultant databases, as well as being in control of the CV database. My various roles have meant that my job is particularly exciting – I am the only team member to have exposure to all aspects of the RFP process. As such, I have developed numerous key skills, such as communication, problem solving and excel skills.
As I support many different operations within the RFP team, it can be challenging to organise my time to ensure I produce high standard work before my deadlines. However, throughout the year I have greatly improved my personal organisation.
I applied for my role after deciding to take a gap year in summer 2016. The process was very simple and fast – within a week of sending my application I had my interview and was asked to start as soon as possible.
Throughout my placement I have constantly felt supported by Investment20/20. From regularly arranging insightful courses to organising social events, Investment20/20 has never failed to ensure their trainees are provided the best opportunities.
I have a passion for economics and hope to attend university after I have completed my year’s placement with Aberdeen Asset Management*. By gaining a year’s worth of experience in the sector I wish to join, I will have the advantage of having practical knowledge unlike majority of my peers, a favourable characteristic desired by employers.
I joined the RFP team having no understanding of the financial industry and will leave having learnt an enormous amount. The ability to meet new people and attend a wide range of training courses has built up my knowledge and confidence.
