Distribution bridges the gap between what an asset manager actually does and how this is communicated to our clients and prospective clients. Maintaining and promoting the Janus Henderson brand, as well as ensuring that we can support the sales teams through events, literature, content dissemination, assures that the firm is associated with our core values of excellence and prioritising the client. This in turn makes my role versatile, interesting and exciting.
In addition to learning the scope and jargon of the industry, the multiple shifting deadlines that come as part and parcel of a marketing role are the most challenging aspect of the job.
Throughout school and university I undertook various opportunities to gain experience in marketing and sales within asset management. I graduated last June with a MA (Hons) in History of Art from the University of Edinburgh, and the following month began a short term contract with MiP Agency – a marketing support and events agency for asset managers such as Henderson. My time at MiP allowed me to create a network within the industry, build my skillset, and become used to corporate conduct. I heard about and applied for various positions and schemes including that of Investment20/20 during this time. I specifically appreciated the Investment20/20 scheme’s tendency to throw you into a role and team so that you learn on the job.
Currently my aspiration is to establish myself as a valuable, confident and dependable member of the marketing team. In the long-term I would like to stay within the distribution area of the asset management industry.
A valuable opportunity to gain industry insight and skills, as well as a chance to establish yourself as a member of the investment management community.
