I provide administrative support to the legal team by arranging for board directors to sign various contracts, arranging for countersignature by counterparties, and maintaining a database and a digital library of contracts signed by board directors. I also perform administrative duties, including writing minutes, for a committee which is attended by senior managers and chaired by a senior board director.
The amount of direct contact with people at all levels of the business has kept my role varied and interesting. Although I work within a supporting function, the fact that my job routinely gives me exposure to commercial contracts, also gives me an insight into what the business is actually doing.
It’s especially important to be organised in this role, as my deadlines often directly affect other people.
Since I split my time between 2 main areas, the main challenge is balancing these 2 separate responsibilities, ensuring that nothing important is overlooked or neglected.
I’m a graduate, with a master’s degree in History and at the time I applied for my current job, my work experience involved elements of customer service, retail banking, and administration. I wanted to expand my experience of financial services and learn more about investment services. This job seemed like a great opportunity to accomplish these objectives.
Investment2020 has provided me with a path into investment management, despite having an unrelated degree.
This role has given me exposure to some of the procedures used in the administration and regulation of a large, international investment management business. Along with the technical experience I’ve gained, I’m confident that this experience has prepared me for an interesting and rewarding career in financial services.
