Why do you enjoy your job?

Columbia Threadneedle Investments was able to place me in a team where I use my best skills as well as work on those that need improvement. Day to day my work can vary from having a lot of meetings, getting involved in project work to general tasks that keep the business running as usual. The most enjoyable part is that I’m never bored and the work is taken on at my own pace.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

My 12 months here is divided into two 6-month rotations in two different departments, IT and Investments. I find it difficult to constantly remember that I need to make the most of my short time as it will soon be up. I rotated in March and can’t believe how quickly the first rotation went!

How did you get into your job?

I had already applied to Investment20/20 before completing my degree. I received an invitation for the online video interview in April, had the assessment centre in early June and found out the week after that I had been offered a position to start in September. Investment20/20 was incredibly helpful and was there whenever I needed help through the process. Not only do they help in the preparation for your position they hold events throughout your time at your firm to help teach the basics of the industry as well as other aspects of your working career.

What are your future aspirations?

Initially I didn’t know if investment management was for me, but having been here for more than six months, i can see how the industry is growing and has a lot to offer. If you think you know what’s involved in an asset management firm, once your are working in one, you realise there’s a lot more going on behind the doors!

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

So far Investment20/20 has been very supportive and has offered me more than just help in recruitment. I would encourage anyone who’s interested to apply and for as many positions as possible.
