Why do you enjoy your job?

I enjoy my job because no one day is the same, you continually adapt to the changing environment and associated risks.

I manage a number of risks including Investment, Operational, Counterparty and Information Security. I actively try to avoid, mitigate or transfer these risks.

Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to perform report writing are essential for this role. Working cohesively with your domestic and international team are also just as important.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

A large workload and strict deadlines can be challenging at times. I have found that the more you are willing to learn, the more efficient you become.

How did you get into your job?

During college I studied Economics, Business and Politics. These subjects sparked my interest in the financial services industry. I recently graduated from university with a First-Class Honours in Banking and Finance.

In my second year of university I managed to get a risk internship with Santander, I was part of the crisis and resiliency team. Here my interest in risk grew and I decided to pursue a career in risk management.

I used the Investment20/20 website to search for a number of risk related roles. This is where I found my current employer, GAM Investments.

What are your future aspirations?

I am currently studying for my Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and have aspirations of becoming a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Investment20/20 is an amazing opportunity for young people. Throughout your time with Investment20/20 you are invited to numerous industry events. These events provide a real insight into aspects of the financial industry. My overall experience has been great.
