Why do you enjoy your job?

Not a day goes by that I do not learn something new. My job is stimulating, dynamic and challenging, which is great, but for me the best thing about it is the sociability of the role. I am continually making new friends within the business and those friendships stretch beyond the workplace.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

The most challenging thing I find about the role – and the city in general – is obtaining information. There is an abundance of people who could tell you all about the city who are experts in their area; however, this information is not found on google or in a book. I have found that to find the answers for any of my questions, I tend to have to find someone willing to teach me.

How did you get into your job?

I came straight from school and applied to just about everywhere in the city. My work experience in supermarket work, catering, and team leading was really useful in these applications –. If you can show skills you gained, and the challenges you overcame from your employment, it can really boost your case for landing a job!

What are your future aspirations?

I would like to gravitate towards front office roles at some point in the future, but for now I have simpler goals. I would like to be in a role where I learn a lot day to day possibly with the option to take formal exams like the IMC and the CFA. Also, I would like to be in a great team where I am able to add value. Finally, I would like to become a source of knowledge for people – even perhaps an ‘expert’ in my role.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

I went into the city with the idea of doing a year and then going to university. After one month I decided I wouldn’t even be applying to university. This has been a fantastic experience, and I don’t feel like I have missed out on the educational or social aspects of university whatsoever, whilst benefiting from experience you cannot normally get from university.
