Why do you enjoy your job?

I have recently moved within Schroders from the corporate governance department to treasury, and I am already very happy with the level of responsibility that I have been given. On a daily basis I manage the cash forecasts for the company. I have to ensure that our bank accounts and the funds we invest in have adequate capital. This means putting in FX (foreign exchange) orders and moving cash around daily. I have found this very interesting and it has allowed me to understand how the business operates on another level.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

So far, the most challenging thing has been digesting the amount of information being thrown at me. This can range from learning new systems to the terminology which is used in the industry.

How did you get into your job?

I came straight from school. I knew that this industry interested me but was unsure if university was the best option for me. I applied and secured a place at university but in the meantime, I also looked online for an alternative which is where I discovered this programme. After online and face to face interviews I was offered the job at Schroders. With my university place differed until next year, I have come into the job open-minded with regards to staying on at work or going to university next year.

What are your future aspirations?

After working for just over half a year now, I have found that I am really enjoying work and am finding myself wanting to stay on, rather than go to university.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

Positive! Through this experience I am working at a great company, learning a lot and meeting a lot of new people.
