Why do you enjoy your job?

No one day is the same in my role at Schroders. Working within Investment Operations, I provide support to a number of OTC trading desks across Schroders, including helping with post execution trade booking and resolving queries relating to trade breaks. This role allows me to meet and interact with a variety of different teams, internal and external clients and gain an insight into the world of investment portfolio management and trading. I am constantly dealing with new enquiries, challenges and problems to solve as well as learning something new every day.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

As my team supports a variety of different desks, we operate across a range of different asset classes. To do a good job, it’s important that we have the right knowledge on how each of these works; from products, technical procedures and even the using the right financial terms. At first having to learn these different elements can be challenging, but with the support of my team and being able to learn on the job, it’s a challenge I enjoy.

How did you get into your job?

During my A-Levels, I was looking for an opportunity to gain real-life experience in the world of investments in the financial industry before I went to university. I always had a fascination for economics and how it’s impacting this world. When I came across Investment20/20, it provided a fantastic opportunity to get a foot in the door and gain experience and insight into this growing industry.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

Investment20/20 has given me a platform into seeing the dynamic industry of investment management first-hand as well as exposure into working life in the bustling city of London.

The amazing opportunities they have provided have helped me gain knowledge and valuable life skills needed to kick start my career as well as helping me establish a network of professionals within the industry.
