Why do you enjoy your job?

I hugely value the unique access to the industry that working at the Investment Association (IA) has brought. Being placed at the IA has allowed me to work alongside and learn from some of the brightest and most respected individuals in the industry, both internally and through regular interactions with our member firms. I sit within the Business: Risk, Culture & Resilience team, and primarily work on Culture and HR policy which involves work on areas such as diversity & inclusion and talent within the wider industry. Much of my work overlaps with areas that I generally feel passionate about, and consequently feel very privileged to be able to play a part in supporting the wider industry, and often government and the regulator, in these feats. The weight and influence that the IA has as a trusted and valued organisation also allows me to see the real worth in the work that we do, which is incredibly rewarding! (My colleagues are also really lovely and hilarious!)

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

As I’ve taken on more responsibility, I’ve had to learn how to better manage my time in order to complete what needs to be done to a high standard and on time. This industry can be very fast paced, but people are always willing to lend a hand and I’ve learnt what needs to be prioritised when necessary.

How did you get into your job?

After deciding to leave University two years in to my degree, I decided to look for employment back in London. I had studied Theology at University, and did not have a clear path to go down or a real desire to pursue a career in a particular industry. Investment20/20 provided a clear and well supported route into what I learnt to be an incredibly influential, important industry. Since completing my twelve month traineeship, I was brought on permanently as an Assistant Policy Adviser, and later promoted to a Policy Adviser.

How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?

Incredibly valuable, insightful and fun!
