Why do you enjoy your job?
I enjoy that each day my job varies with different tasks to complete. My role involves updating and ensuring data is in line as to how it is expected to be. My team supports many other teams at Schroders which enables me to communicate with a range of people across the business.
What is the most challenging thing about your job?
Prioritising and organisation is key for my team, which can sometimes be difficult to manage when there are a range of requests and short deadlines that need to be met.
How did you get into your job?
I finished my A-Levels in 2019 and knew whilst being at school I didn’t want to go to university but wanted to work in the city, still unsure of what career I wanted to pursue. My careers advisor was very supportive of apprenticeships and introduced me to Investment20/20 website, whereby I applied for multiple different roles across a range of companies in hope to get a vacancy somewhere. Schroders offered me a 2 year apprenticeship in Investment Operations. I am now studying for my 1st/3 apprenticeship exams which has been paid for by Schroders alongside working.
What are your future aspirations?
I hope to become more exposed to even more areas of the company and to progress in my career as much as possible. Schroders are encouraging of progression and change to which I believe will support me in my future.
How would you sum up your Investment20/20 experience?
You don’t have to study maths to work in Asset Management, you can study any subjects and don’t have to have a degree to work in the Investment industry, which I think is a misconception of many young people.
