At M&G I have been encouraged to get stuck in with all sorts of work around the procurement department. This has been beneficial not only to gain a varied understanding of our benefits, but also to network with individuals throughout the business. Furthermore, being hands on has allowed me to learn at a faster and more efficient pace. I find that learning on the job is better suited to me, rather than listening and observing.
The most challenging thing about my role has been adapting to team transformations. Due to big changes in the company, many colleagues have come and gone in a short space of time, meaning I had to relearn the structure of procurement, as well as build new connections.
Before joining M&G Plc, I worked part time for No7, Boots, as well as studying my third year at college. I decided to do an extra year at college as uni did not appeal to me, and I was unsure what area of work to enter. Once hearing about procurement, I knew this was an area I could excel in, especially due to the support of M&G, Investment20/20, and BPP.
Before joining M&G Plc I had no idea where my future was headed. Since then, my enthusiasm for working in the city, for a company I believe in has grown tremendously. Although I still don’t know where my work will take me in the future, I am comforted knowing it can be in a supportive, friendly environment.
Attending the insight and training days at Investment20/20 has accelerated my knowledge and experience, as well as introducing me to new friends. I would highly recommend becoming a member of the Investment20/20 programme.
